This was a Blessful Coffee for Kids experience at Safe Shores. I was honored to be in the presence of True Community Titans. Safe Shores is the child advocacy organization in Washington DC. I was introduced to Safe Shores by Sunni from WPGC in 2013 along with the introduction to Santa Cause. Santa Cause is a fundraising campaign started by DMV philanthropist Mo Betta for Safe Shores by engaging the community with stewardship and service focused events. This time I was blessed to introduce Ms. Jawanna Hardy of GunsDownFriday, Mrs. Barbara Miller of Run Your Race Ministries, Mr. Cameron Thurston from UMD OCE, and Mr. Keith James of A.I.M..
We all learned about the treatments and services provided for the less fortunate families in the DMV. Ms. Hardy discovered that victims of gun violence receive their services as well. We gained a greater understanding the organizations significance firsthand about the treatment, therapy, and intervention rooms. It is truly a blessing to be a Vessel and Ambassador for Safe Shores. I am currently developing an educational community forum for Safe Shores to present resources and information on the services they provide. My goal is to get as many people involved from PG County and other parts of Maryland to hopefully establish a Safe Shores in Maryland. Please stay posted for more details as developments advance.
